Standing between Croatia and Italy, Slovenian seaside stretches for as little as 46 km of coastline. Not enough space for useful and entertaining content some would say. Wrong!

Koper beach and Mestna beach
Koper is the largest coast town and the only Slovenian port. It is the nearest that you will get to the Italian border and only 45 minutes by car from Slovenian capital – Ljubljana.
It is not dubbed as a classic seaside resort, and lots of tourists will be displeased by the fact that Koper is a marina and will tell you that it’s not a good destination to spend your vacation in, but, the truth is, Koper has much to offer and has its Mediterranean extravaganza. If you liked Amalfi coast, you would feel pretty much the same in Koper and on nearby Mestna beach. Also, Koper offers lots of space for tasting traditional cuisine and enjoying local wines in numerous restaurants and cafes. The old town of Koper gives the city unique Mediterranean charm and is a must-see for everyone who enjoys sightseeing.
Moon Bay and Strunjan
If you are keen of preserved nature and breathtaking viewpoints, then village of Strunjan and nearby Moon Bay beach (which is called White Cross by the locals) is placed for you. The village of Strunjan is a small coastal village which is in fact located inside Slovenian national park and is home to many endangered and rare plant and animal species. Moon Bay is a beautiful pebble beach located under the cliff and is reachable only by foot. On top of that, it offers a wonderful experience of relaxation in a preserved natural habitat and is perfect for everyone who prefers privacy over the turmoil of crowded beaches.
The famous seaside resort of Slovenia and a number one pick for socializing and nightlife. Portoroz is officially the only sandy beach in Slovenia and is saturated with deluxe hotels, casinos, nightclubs and other entertainment establishments. You will rarely find locals residing in Portoroz, as it’s a little bit pricey for Slovenian standards. If you like going out with your friends and you like staying up all night, as well as basking in the sun on sandy beaches until the late afternoon – you should add Portoroz to your map.

Considering that Ljubljana, Lake Bled and lots of other top tourist locations in Slovenia are within an hour drive, you might as well look into renting a van or a conversion van if you travel in a group.
